Hello, my name is Veniece Sawa. I am a Limited Licensed Social Worker. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in social work with a double minor in sociology and child welfare from Oakland University. I received my master’s degree in social work from Michigan State University. I have previous experience working in a crisis level setting working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm, eating disorders, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, etc.
My goal is to help individuals struggling with their mood and anxieties to find better coping mechanisms to live a more content lifestyle. My interest in becoming a therapist stemmed from growing up in a cultural background that did not acknowledge mental health disorders. I wanted to work towards being open, spreading awareness, and breaking the stigma revolving around mental health. I understand the difficulty of beginning a journey and finding a therapist you can connect with. I offer a safe and welcoming environment to assist individuals with the challenges they are facing on their journey towards self-growth.
